Paige McClanahan
Paige McClanahan is a writer, author and communications specialist covering the social, political, and environmental dimensions of global systems, with a focus on sustainability, inequality, and public accountability. For several years, she was a regular contributor to The New York Times, where she reported on the world of travel and the policy, economics, and social impacts of the tourism industry. Paige’s book, The New Tourist: Waking Up to the Power and Perils of Travel (Scribner, 2024), is a critical examination of globalization, mobility, and responsibility that won praise from critics at The New Yorker, The Atlantic, and The Guardian, among other outlets. Her reporting and commentary have also appeared in TIME Magazine, AFAR, and Outside, and her journalism has received multiple awards from the North American Travel Journalists Association and the Society of American Travel Writers. As a commentator, Paige has contributed live analysis to major broadcast outlets including the BBC World Service, ABC News, CBC News, and NPR. In parallel, Paige works as a ghostwriter and communications advisor for international institutions and NGOs, producing op-eds, speeches, and strategic messaging for senior leadership, including at UN agencies.
