Sandor Madar

Sandor is a Colombia-based climate, peace and security consultant and peacebuilding practitioner specialized for fragile and conflict-affected states. He has re-joined Alp Analytica after 3 years with UNDP Sudan, where he served as Peacebuilding Fund Coordinator in the Darfur region and in the Eastern States. Prior to that, Sandor worked with UN Environment in Nairobi, Kenya as an Environmental Security Analyst and on various past projects of Alp Analytica and Chatham House.

Sandor brings to the table expertise on peacebuilding and development, context analysis, conflict sensitivity, conflict prevention, transformation and mediation, resilience and social cohesion building. His niche area and interest is on climate security, environmental peacebuilding, climate related migration and natural-resource related conflicts in fragile and post-conflict settings.

Sandor holds a master degree in International Security from the Paris School of International Affairs of Sciences Po. Paris and a Bachelor degree in Political Science and International Relations from Sciences Po.’s Campus of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean Studies. Sandor lived in France, Jordan, the UAE, Kenya and Sudan prior to moving to the Cordillera de los Andes in Colombia. He is fluent in English, French, Hungarian and also speaks Spanish and Arabic.
